WBM (the trading name of Walker Beak Mason Limited) is an acoustic consultancy which has been independent and focused on delivering a first-class service for over 50 years. We specialise in environmental noise, planning issues, architectural & building acoustics and expert work.

Our expertise and professional standards

WBM is a member of the Association of Noise Consultants (ANC) and is also a corporate partner of the Institute of Sustainability & Environmental Professionals (ISEP). The Consultants are all members of the Institute of Acoustics (IOA).

The business was formed in 1970 by Dr Angus Walker who specialised in environmental acoustics and planning appeal work. In 1972 Colin Beak joined and developed the architectural & building acoustics side of the business. In 1976 the business was joined by Dr John Mason and the Walker Beak Mason Partnership name was launched. Dr Paul Cockcroft led WBM through a transitional period of change of offices and consultants until his retirement as a partner in 2021. The team at WBM continued with Rachel Canham and Dr Richard Lyons as partners. WBM became a Limited Company in April 2022.
