Internal acoustics for residential developments is covered by the Building Regulations with the requirements set out in Approved Document E 2003 (ADE 2003), covering houses, flats and rooms for residential purposes. The regulations are enforced by Building Control, which will require pre-completion sound insulation testing to be undertaken unless developments are undertaken in accordance with Robust Details.
