The acoustic requirements of buildings are driven by their proposed use, activities within the building and the surrounding environment. Compulsory acoustic performance requirements exist for certain developments, such as those stipulated in the Building Regulations. For many building types there are no mandatory requirements and the performance is stipulated via the need for BREEAM credits or guidance documents relating to acoustic performance.
Examples are health buildings (Health Technical Memorandum 08-01: Acoustics), courts (Court and tribunal design guide) and schools (BB93 2014). General guidance can be found in British Standard BS 8233 and specific performance criteria may be indicated within bespoke employer’s requirements documents or BREEAM.
Our varied project experience, including court buildings, schools, lecture halls, offices, grandstands (including conference facilities and board rooms), leisure buildings, recording studios, and commercial / multi-use developments means that you will be supported by a wealth of experience.
