Barrington Quarry, Rail Imported Restoration Material
WBM prepared a report that set out the findings of a noise assessment for a proposed rail related development for the CEMEX Barrington site, Cambridgeshire that involves trains passing close to dwellings and over level crossings. The proposal is to import material by train to the Barrington cement works site, to unload trains and place the material into a previously extracted void at the quarry.
Our involvement included baseline noise measurements, calculations, discussions with Cambridgeshire County Council officers and their specialist noise adviser, which resulted in additional detailed information being provided for consideration by the planning committee.
The proposal was granted approval in 2011 subject to many conditions including time restrictions and noise and vibration limits for train movements on the branch railway line which will need to be refurbished before it can accommodate the diesel locomotives and wagons.
