Traincare Depot Southampton
WBM has advised Siemens Transportation Systems Limited on four new traincare depots, for electric and diesel trains, in Southampton, Northampton, Manchester and York. Due to modern traincare techniques and appropriately constructed buildings and enclosures, the four depots have received planning approval for 24 hour operation near to existing residential property.
Noise mapping software was used to assist in the design of enclosures for specific operations such as the train washing and wheel grinding. Noise monitoring has been undertaken for daytime and night-time periods to compare site noise levels with noise limits imposed by the planning authority as a condition of the approval.
