Odeon Cinemas Limited, Odeon Liverpool One

ODEON Cinemas is the largest cinema chain in the UK, with over one hundred cinemas. In the last 12 years WBM has advised Odeon Cinemas Limited on over 60 projects, both refurbishments and new developments, including this large cinema complex located in the heart of Liverpool.  Between 2004 and 2009 there was a £1billion rebuilding of the Paradise Street area bringing over 1.6 million square feet of new shopping space to the city. This area is known as Liverpool One. The Odeon cinema is part of the development's leisure facilities providing 14 screens over two levels all situated above a large retail development. The Gallery bar area has views that look out over the city.

One of the core challenges for this development was that a large area within the city was under re-construction and hence ambient noise levels around the cinema were unknown and the vast shell of the cinema was presented with no specified acoustic performance. WBM was involved from project inception through to completion advising on all aspects associated with the cinema acoustic performance, including design, construction detailing, site inspection, testing and witnessing, advising on M&E services noise and ensuring that all planning requirements relating to noise were satisfied.
