West Kettering Noise Mapping
WBM was approached by agents representing landowners for a site at West Kettering adjacent to the A14 trunk road, to undertake a noise assessment for proposed residential development. The consideration of Noise Exposure Categories, as introduced by PPG 24 Planning and Noise, was used to determine noise levels across the undeveloped site.
Further noise mapping work was undertaken to calculate future road traffic noise levels across the site for a particular built form of residential development. This allowed the Council to review the likely future road traffic noise levels, with a scheme that was designed to create areas with lower noise level, and subsequently permission was granted.
