Wellingborough East Strategic Development Area
WBM prepared the environmental statement noise chapter for a major development in Wellingborough comprising housing, industrial and commercial activity. Our assessment considered multiple noise sources including road and rail traffic, industrial and commercial activity, site preparation and construction. The project also required the assessment of altered and extended roads, under the Noise Insulation Regulations, which was undertaken using noise mapping techniques.
Noise impacts on both existing dwellings in the vicinity of the proposed site and dwellings in the new community were determined. Mitigation measures were recommended to reduce noise impact on existing houses from road traffic and construction. Appropriate mitigation was also identified for new housing near to existing noise sources.
