Assessments, Applications & Reports

The preparation of the correct type of noise assessment report is crucial for planning applications, planning appeals and environmental impact assessments/environmental statements.  Other assessments, e.g. for BB93, BREEAM or in accordance with BS 4142 or PPG24 "Planning and Noise", require the consideration of specific noise levels and/or acoustic conditions so it is important to ensure that these are adequately taken in account in the report.

WBM offers a complete service throughout all stages of an assessment.  We provide advice on initial concepts, liaise with local authority officers and other technical personnel, and consider current standards, regulations, codes of practice and relevant guidance documents.  Our noise assessments include relevant aspects of the project and we prepare detailed, researched reports suitable for submission to the local authority.  We can provide advice on achieving BREEAM credits for acoustic performance and provide the relevant assessment reports to demonstrate how the credits can be achieved.

A further speciality is the preparation of evidence for Planning Appeals and Public Inquiries, and presentation of this evidence as an Expert Witness.

We can also provide assistance to clients who have received an abatement notice under the Environmental Protection Act.  This might include prompt discussion with the Local Authority, review of the alleged noise nuisance and the provision of practical advice on realistic and cost effective means of mitigation.
