Dr Paul Cockcroft BEng(Hons) PhD CEng MIMMM FIOA: Partner
Paul has been practising in mining engineering and acoustics since 1983. He joined WBM in 1989, became an Associate in 1991, a Partner in 1997 and Senior Partner in 2004. Paul has concentrated on environmental noise, continuing to broaden and deepen the knowledge and scope of the mineral working and waste disposal expertise of WBM. He also has considerable experience of planning appeal work. |
Colin Beak MIOA: Consultant
Colin began his career in acoustics in 1963 with the Acoustical Investigation & Research Organisation. He joined WBM as a partner in 1972 and became senior partner in 2001. Colin developed particularly the architectural and building acoustics field for WBM. He is pre-eminent in the acoustic aspects of the leisure industry with an in-depth knowledge of music, cinema, clubs and mixed leisure venues. Colin retired as a partner in April 2004 and now acts as a consultant to WBM, continuing with on-going projects and using his experience to assist WBM responding to client’s requirements.

Rachel Canham BEng(Hons) MSc CEng MIOA: Associate
Rachel’s career in acoustic consultancy began in 1993 on completion of her degree in Electroacoustics. She has worked in consultancies in Oxford and London and gained a Masters degree in Environmental Acoustics in 1998. She joined WBM in 1999 and became an Associate in 2005. Rachel primarily works in the areas of architectural and building acoustics, with particular experience in sound insulation, entertainment/leisure projects and educational buildings. She is also involved in environmental noise projects and has developed WBM’s noise mapping capabilities using SoundPlan. |
Matthew Sweet BEng(Hons) MIOA: Consultant
Matthew joined WBM in 2001 after working in acoustic consultancy since 1995. Matthew deals mainly with environmental noise but he also has considerable experience of building acoustics |
Dr Robert Storey BEng(Hons) PhD MIOA: Consultant
Robert joined WBM in 2007 after working in Environmental Health for 5 years. Prior to his work in the public sector Robert had worked briefly as a consultant after the completion of his degrees, which are in mining engineering and vibration arising from blasting at surface mineral workings. Robert works primarily on environmental noise projects but also assists with building acoustic related projects.

Dr Richard Lyons BEng(Hons) PhD CEng MIOA MCIBSE: Consultant
Richard joined WBM from Loughborough University in July 2005 and became an Associate in 2008. Richard has researched and lectured in acoustics, building science and building services engineering since 1992. Prior to obtaining his degrees and during study he had a career as a mechanical services design engineer. Richard works primarily on building and architectural acoustics projects including residential, cinema, heath & fitness and mixed leisure venues and also has input to environmental noise projects. |
