WBM undertakes the prediction and measurement of demolition and construction noise and provides clients with practical advice on the reduction of site preparation and construction noise. Experience in the field of construction noise is extensive, ranging from large projects such as Canary Wharf and the Second Severn Crossing to factory extensions and site preparation for brown field site housing development. WBM has experience of other large-scale developments, such as petrochemical sites, combined heat and power schemes, waste to energy and gas powered electricity generation plants.
Noise from construction sites is specifically referred to in Sections 60 and 61 of Part III of the Control of Pollution Act 1974. WBM works with contractors and developers in the preparation of Section 61 prior consent documentation and advises in connection with Section 60 notices for the control of noise on construction sites.
Housing, commercial and industrial developments require assessments of the likely impact to surrounding land users. The proximity of other uses will impose constraints on developers and these constraints need to be addressed. WBM has considerable experience in developing housing sites alongside principal noise generators such as motorways and other roads, railways, airfields and industry. Difficult development sites can be optimised by careful noise planning and mitigation. The returns to developers can be improved whilst at the same time promoting a quieter environment. Our extensive experience with many house builders has enabled sites ranging from individual houses to multi-developer projects to be completed successfully. |
